Planning your visit to Trinidad, here are some frequently asked questions our guests ask: 

+ What does “Kapok” mean?

Kapok is a Malay word for the silk cotton flower. The Hotel was so named because of its location at the very foot of Cotton Hill which was abound with silk cotton trees many years ago. The red Kapok logo is representative of the silk cotton flower.

+ Where is the Hotel located?

Kapok Hotel is conveniently located near the Queen’s Park Savannah, and minutes away from the city capital, Port-of-Spain. It is within walking distance to the Botanical Gardens, The President’s House, and nearby shopping centers, banks, and food outlets.

+ Is Kapok Hotel a chain or a franchise?

Kapok Hotel is an independently branded, locally-owned and operated Hotel.

+ Is internet access offered?

Complimentary internet access (Wi-Fi) is available to hotel guests in all our guest rooms, restaurants and lobby area.

+ Is breakfast included in our rate?

A complimentary continental buffet breakfast is available to all hotel guests. Additional items can be ordered from our A La Carte menu.

+ Is there a gym?

There is an exercise facility with weights, an elliptical machine, bikes, treadmill...Open 6am – 10pm.

+ Is there a pool?

Yes, there is an outdoor pool.

+ Is Room Service available at the Hotel?

Room service is available daily from 7am to 10pm.

+ Are there mini-bars in the rooms?

No, however all rooms are equipped with a mini refrigerator. Drinks are available via room service and there is a 24 hour snack shop where non-alcoholic beverages are sold.

+ What is the maximum number of persons allowed in a room?

The maximum number of persons to a room is up to 4 persons, depending on room type.

+ Do we provide transportation to and from the airport?

Airport transfers can be arranged when making your reservation (with a minimum of 48 hours notice). Prices range from $35 - $45US.

+ Is a taxi service available?

There is an independently operated taxi service available on the property. Public transportation is also available directly in front of the hotel.

+ Are there connecting rooms suitable for families?

Yes, and subject to availability.

+ Does Kapok offer disabled access rooms?

We are able to facilitate this on a limited basis.

+ Are laundry facilities and dry cleaning available?

A guest self-service laundromat is located onsite (2nd floor). The hotel also offers laundry and dry cleaning services.

+ What forms of payment are accepted at the Hotel?

Visa, MasterCard, Linx, American Express, Travellers Cheques, and cash are accepted.

+ What is the cancellation policy?

Room reservations should be cancelled 48hours before arrival, to avoid a one night charge to the credit card.

+ When is the best time to book for Carnival?

It is advisable to book as early as 9 to 12 months before carnival as rooms are booked early.

+ Is there a dress code for restaurants?

It is customary in Trinidad and Tobago that for men, long trousers are worn for dinner. For women, a dress or slacks is the norm.

+ Is the hotel close to the Carnival Parade route?

The hotel is walking distance to the Carnival Parade route and major events at the Grand Stand.

+ Are pets allowed?

No

+ Do we provide tours?

Upon request, we can provide information and book tours for guests.

+ Do we have car rental services?
